Stephen Kenn

These furniture pieces by Stephen Kenn were posted on DesignSponge the other day and I just had to share. They are perfect in so many ways. I can just picture a few of these lovely little guys in my converted farmhouse or factory space...that I'll live in someday. I will. I. Will.

I really love the army green re-purposed material combined with the leather details. His furniture is both so unique and of-the-moment yet so classic. Army green and leather will never, ever go out of style. The color is a great neutral that a lot of people don't use in their homes but I think more people will consider it after seeing these beauties!

Recipe Wednesday: Hot Cocoa!

It's officially that time of year. The time of year when I have hot cocoa almost every night. It's true. There is no better way to end the day.

This recipe will be simple but it will be the tastiest hot cocoa you'll every have. I guarantee ;)

Greatest Hot Cocoa

Fill your mug with milk. No water! The only way to make hot cocoa is with milk. I use 1% but whole would be tastier. I'm trying to watch my girlish figure.

Heat milk to desired temperature. Don't boil it!

Add chocolate. Some people like to use dark cocoa powder or real chocolate. I'm weird. My favorite will always be Swiss Miss since I don't like things to be too chocolatey. I didn't say this was the classiest hot cocoa. But wait, we'll make it appear that way.

Once you've mixed the chocolate and milk add a dallop of whip cream and then sprinkle with cinnamon.

Voila! The greatest hot cocoa ever. Now go snuggle up on the couch with a good book.

Do the Polka (Dot)

I love, love, love polka dots. I think polka dots are such a classic design that will always be in style. I'm currently making my own polka dot design to screen print on various fabrics...I've only got about 800 more dots to make! I'm really excited about it and hopefully it will work out as planned. Sometimes my designs don't exactly, uh, cooperate!

I found a few other polka dotted items on Etsy that are really fun!

Guest Post: JosePhenom

Why hello there, dear Milkhaus readers. My name is Josie, and I am an awkward woman of few words. Beth has graciously invited me to contribute to her blogetty blog, and I am still wondering what on earth I could contribute that you haven't read before. I, along with many Brooklynites, like meat, baked goods (doughnuts!) and solo dance parties. I promise to share something really hip soon. Srsly. (Did I really just type that?!) I Srsly did.

Stay tuned.
In the meantime, here's a photo.
Happy Monday.

Music Monday: Marvin Gaye - What's Going On

I don't usually post brand spankin' new songs here. I like to post the songs that I can continue to go back to and know they'll be great whether they came out two weeks ago, two years ago or two decades ago.
Let's listen to Marvin. This is a great song. And he's wearing a great outfit in this video. And then he starts to get a little freaky. Ok, not that bad...don't worry, you can watch this at work! Maybe he got this song messed up with Sexual Healing. Perhaps.

Uguisu

I'm loving these fun office/paper products from Uguisu. Next week I'm heading down the hall to a new office. Perhaps I should buy myself some fun stuff to add to the new office? I think so!
