Dianne von Furstenberg Pre-Fall 2011

Ok, maybe it's a bit preemptive to already be thinking about fall 2011. I know I'm not the only one who can't believe it's almost January 2011. WTF??? But DVF's Pre-Fall 2011 collection has me wishing it was September 2011 and I was walking the streets of (insert some fabulous European city name here). I'm pretty sure I'll instead be wandering the streets of Madison, WI, wearing something not quite as fabulous. Oh, but a girl can dream!

This is but a few of my favorite looks. Just a few, ok? Actually, this might be (ok, it totally is) picture overload but guess what? I don't care!

Best Album Covers of 2010

So Paste recently came out with their list of best album covers of this year. There were a few I liked but I decided to make my own list. And yes, I'm too lazy to write out the artists of each. Just enjoy the pretty pictures!

This Flying Lotus cover is probably my favorite.

How can you not love The Black Keys cover? It's so random. So straight and to the point. I need to marry one of these guys. Really, I do.

Jan Vormann Dispatchwork

Cool idea by Jan Vormann to "repair" cities with legoes. Dispatchwork is throughout the world. You can even participate and submit your own.

Thanks to Guerrilla Innovation for sharing.

Maggie Leininger

One thing that I really love about taking design classes is the access to a ton of design books. I could literally spend days reading these books, looking at the images, and wondering if I will ever be that talented. Every page brings something new and exciting and it amazes me that people can come up with such creative ideas and projects and actually create something so unique. What I love most, though, is people who find art in the everyday...every day.

I came across a few pages devoted to Maggie Leininger in some fabulous book (maybe Textiles Today???) and wanted to post these images of her hand stitching on various textiles. It's stunning.

I've posted before about artists using microorganisms, cells and petri dishes as inspiration for art and it's obvious I've got a thing for it!

Raw Edges Design Studio

I came across Raw Edges Design Studio while perusing the lovely pages of the Share Some Candy blog.

I had to post about this because, well, just because. I love it. It's clever. That's a good enough reason for me if it's a good enough reason for you.

From the Raw Edge site:
This official collaboration between Yael Mer & Shay Alkalay started after many years of sharing life, thoughts, ideas and everything in-between. Yael’s main focus includes turning two-dimensional sheet materials into curvaceous functional forms, whereas Shay is fascinated by how things move, function and react. Together they work under the name Raw-Edges and share a common goal to create objects that have never been seen before.

MLK

Milk is my favorite beverage. Yes, it's true. Most people I know don't even drink milk. I probably drink enough for five people. It's so tasty! I'm weird, I know. You don't ever hear people asking you to go out for a glass of milk, do you? I should start that trend.

This packaging designed by Depot WPF for MLK is fantastic. I think it might make more people drink moo juice. Don't you?

Stirrup Socks!

I must get back into knitting so I can make these Loeffler Randall Stirrup Socks! Yes, stirrup socks. Cute, no?

The socks are a collaboration between LR and Purl Soho...you should check out their blog because there are a lot of other fabulous things posted!

These stirrup socks (I just love writing that. Stirrup pants, probably not so great.) are meant to be worn in the LR Rain Boots, which are also quite fabulous and something I should probably buy, don't you think? I know my soggy toes would be happy.

Saw these A. Toy bags on Simplesong and had to post my faves.

Only 99 of each are made. Must get one of them!
