It's Bob Time!

What is Bob Time, you ask? Well, Bob Time is when I bust out the tried-and-true Bob Marley Legends album and play it non-stop to remind me that soon, yes very soon, the warmer weather will arrive. Bob Time usually occurs right around the end of February when it seems that winter will never, ever end.

Why do I call this Bob Time? Every spring during college, just as the weather was getting nicer (thank goodness, there really IS an end in sight!), people would be out on their porches blasting Bob Marley. I loved it. It was a sign that the end of the semester was approaching and, more importantly, summer just around the corner.

How should one celebrate Bob Time, you ask? Easy.

Play some Bob Marley. There is nothing like Is This Love to get me feeling happy and stress free.

And relax. Preferably with friends. It's that simple.

Cool Cats & Dashing Dogs

I love the colors of these and the vintage style. And, of course, the last one is my fave ;)

Melanie Bilenker

I'm in this pretty amazing class this semester where we get to hear from different artists each week. The artist who presented tonight mentioned Melanie Bilenker as an influence and showed a piece of her work. Work that, I should point out, was made with hair. I couldn't wait to get home and google her!

In the artist's own words:
The Victorians kept lockets of hair and miniature portraits painted with ground hair and pigment to secure the memory of a lost love. In much the same way, I secure my memories through photographic images rendered in lines of my own hair, the physical remnants. I do not reproduce events, but quiet minutes, the mundane, the domestic, the ordinary moments.

White Wonderland

Sunday morning I decided that I just couldn't stand my bedroom any longer. The color and the decor is driving me insane. Well, close to insanity.

I was trying to be a good girl and use elements from the bedroom in my last apartment (reduce, reuse, recycle kids!) but it just wasn't working for me. I'm sure most people thought it looked fine. My oh my, how being particular can be a burden!

I absolutely love the simplicity of white interiors but can never quite bring myself to decorate my own home this way. Maybe I am afraid of getting my house dirty?!? Instead I look at pretty, pretty pictures of white rooms.

Someday when I am living in my light-filled loft I can master this look.

Oji & Design

I recently discovered Oji Masanori via the Elle Decoration South Africa blog. Everything he produces is so simple but so perfect.

Oy!

Yep, that about sums it up.

I drink lots of this.

Because this statement is so true (usually).

But I must study if I want to design things like this someday.

Heaven In A Cone

So yesterday I posted about fireplaces...and today, ice cream. Why yes, that is random. Thank you for noticing. I've got diverse interests, what can I say??

It was an absolutely gorgeous day today in Madison. I had a meeting across campus and decided that since I was so close to the Memorial Union that I should probably stop in and have some ice cream. I mean, come on. What better way to celebrate a day that is a sign of good things to come (SPRING!)?

Babcock Hall ice cream is close to perfection. If perfection was frozen and came in a waffle cone.

Whoa, mega ice cream cone.

Avocado coconut ice cream, anyone?

Persimmon frozen yogurt. Ok, so this isn't ice cream. But it's pretty and sounds interesting so I had to post it.

Hmmm, this looks too complicated to eat.

My favorite. The always classic chocolate.
